AMERICA ONLINE
How to use AOL including:
setting up, maneuvering, e-mail, address book, file system, CD player, word search.


CD/DVD RECORDING AND REWRITING
How to operate Easy CD recorder, Real Player, Windows Media Player including:
setting up, maneuvering, playing and recording CD and DVD's.


COREL WORD PERFECT
Using the Corel WordPerfect word processing program including:
typing, printing, file system, function keys,
Internet access and special functions for designing documents.


E-MAILING
Setting up E-MAIL systems including:
personal E-Mail, Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, Yahoo and Hot Mail systems.


FILE SYSTEMS
Using various filing systems within Windows including:
My Computer, Windows Explorer, Run and Search.


HARDWARE MAINTENANCE
Repairing and maintaining a computer including:
installing and uninstalling harddrives, CD players, cards, and memory to the computer.


HTML
Writing Hyper Terminal Markup Language including:
the body, lists, links, images, colors, tables,
forms, frames, what goes in the head, the address and audio.


INTERNET
Maneuvering on the web using Internet applications including:
various browsers, search engines, changing home pages, folders, favorites lists,
hot keys and reading web page layouts.


JAWS FOR WINDOWS
Setting up and operating JAWS including:
keyboard and system hot key strokes, installation, and customizations.


KEYBOARD HOT KEYS
Using the computer hot keys including:
function keys, number key pad, six pack, arrow keys, system keys,
application key, control, tab, alternate and shift hot keys.


KURZWEIL SCANNING PROGRAMS
Setting up, and operating the Kurzweil 1000 including:
function keys, number pad, file system, word processor, Internet and E-Mail.


MICROSOFT EXCEL
Course designed to guide one through effective functioning within a spreadsheet program, including:
creating and calculateing numeric information
keeping track of personal and business finances,
names, addresses, phone numbers, display numeric formats in a chart or graph,
make tables and link data to other spreadsheets or documents.


MICROSOFT POWERPOINT
Course designed to guide one through effective functioning within PowerPoint, including:
orientation, adding text, adding and linking objects, slide layout,
creating slideshows, adding transitions, animations and printing.


MICROSOFT WORD
Course designed to teach effective concepts within Microsoft Word including:
orientation, application, creating, saving, navigating documents; spelling, thesaurus,
formatting, header styles, auto text, find and replace, mail merge, tables, printing.


WINDOWS OPERATING ENVIRONMENTS
Course designed to teach effective concepts about the Windows Operating System including:
terms, menus, connecting to programs, making shortcuts,
the functionality of the control panel, accessories, run and search applications.

COMPUTER LITERACY OVERVIEW

The Consulting and Designing Experts developed the computer literacy program cognizant of the challenged and non-disabled inability to operate computers adequately. For this and other reasons computer consultants are dedicated in assisting in training users how to operate computer systems, software and hardware. They also inform those attending how to buy or build a system designed especially for their use.

CDE Incorporated offers computer classes for the challenged and the non-disabled. Classes are held under the consent, privacy and protection of each participant. Classes are conducted on a multi-person and individual (one on one) bases.


CLASS LENGTH

The length of each computer training class is constructed and conducted in accordance to an individual's skill and desire

  • CLASS #1:
    Basic- individuals with typing or computer skills.
  • CLASS #2: Beginners- for individuals with limited or no knowledge of computer or/ and typing skills.

Classes rranged from one (1) to fourteen (14) sessions.
Each class is approximately two hours per session.

Classes are curtailed to individual need and desire.
The available training concentrations are in the areas of:

  • Typing.
  • Computer Systems
  • Computer Concepts
  • Computer Hardware
  • Computer Software
  • Computer Input and Computer Output.

TYPING.
Computer consultants conduct a special class for all who are interested in learning how to type using the keyboard, but do not have typing skills.
In this class one can learn keyboard functions while in the process of building precision typing skills.

COMPUTER SYSTEMS.
Students learn the Windows operating system including:
  • How to access the Microsoft programs.
  • How to operate other available Word Processing program.
  • How to use the Internet.
  • How to use the Control Panel.
  • How to use the Windows Explorer.
  • How to use specially desired programs.

COMPUTER CONCEPTS.
This class familiarizes one with the exhaustive computer jargon, explained with terms like :
boot, byte, cannon, click, close, computer, copy,
curser, cut, document, drive, file, format,
gauge, hardware, HP, IBM, Internet, left mouse,
main frame, memory, menu, open, port, paste,
save, software, stand alone, start, terminal, transfer, windows to name a few.

Computer concepts also include less familiar terms like:
auto exec, back slash, back up, batch, bay, bios, configure,
control panel, custom, delete, desktop, DOS, download, empty,
explorer, floppy disk, gigs, hard drive, joy stick, kilo, load,
lower memory, mega, megahertz, mother board, number pad, parallel, Pentium,
plug and play, programs, ram, recycle, right mouse, rom, six pack,
sybre, upload, upper memory, Webb page and many other terms.

COMPUTER HARDWARE
This class defines hardware operation.
It explains, differenciates and informs how hardware interacts in the system.
Students learn how these devices connect; what types are available and to what capacity.

COMPUTER SOFTWARE
In this class students learn:
how to define, apply, to run, adjust, execute when installed,
how to delete or uninstall CD and DVD ROMS when necessary. .

COMPUTER INPUTAND OUTPUT
*Input.
Inputting trains a student how to apply RAM or access and rearrange information located within the computer environment. This includes:
The windows explore, my computer, search, settings, programs, auto exec,
configuration DOS, properties, recycle ben, sub- directories and files.

Output.
Computer output trains one how to use ROM or access, read and apply instructions given by the computer. This covers the entire windows menu, individual program menu, help menus, installation of software programs and installation of hardware or external devices.

The goal of the computer training class is to advance the Challenged and non-disabled, by assisting in equipping them for the twenty first century technologically.
